Akariya Kosen - My Favorite Soba Restaurant

 I would like to introduce you to the soba restaurant Akariya Kosen. This restaurant has been open for about 10 years now, but it has been my go-to place for about the same amount of time. It is located a one-minute walk from Yanokuchi Station on the Nanbu Line. The parking lot is not large, so it is recommended to go by train. This restaurant has a very nice atmosphere with warm colored lights and Japanese style interior.

Akariya Kosen has many delicious soba　dishes. There are many hot and cold soba noodles there, as well as a menu that changes with the seasons, making it an enjoyable place to visit again and again. When I visited here, they were serving lemon flavored soba. They also have shiso-flavored and cherry blossom-flavored soba, so you should pay attention to the seasonal soba when you visit here. My favorite dish is the "oroshi soba"(¥1,050) in the photo. This is a dish served with grated radish in the dipping soup. This grated radish is spicy and addictive. 

In addition to that, there are many other side dishes to choose from besides soba. This picture shows my favorite "Omakase-yasaitempra"(¥1,200). There are several kinds of vegetable tempura, which are crispy and very delicious. There are also fresh sashimi, dashimaki eggs, and chicken dishes. They don't serve alcohol at the moment, but the Japanese sake here is really good, so be sure to try it when they start serving it.

The Prom (2020)

 This is a musical movie. This features Meryl Streep, James Corden and others. The director is Ryan Murphy. Let me explain what the story is. A prom was canceled because Emma, a high school student in Indiana, wanted to invite a girl to attend the prom. This story is about a group of celebrities who were not popular with the public at the time, and when they saw this incident online, they fight together to improve their image. This is a true story that happened in an American high school in 2010.

Ryan Murphy is a director famous for the TV drama "Glee". The Prom was the first movie he had made in 10 years. He has a strong image of creating musical works. In this work, too, he produced a performance with the best songs and music.

This story has an LGBTQ theme and depicts not only the main character, Emma (Jo Ellen Pellman), a high school girl, but also the other characters' lives as LGBTQ and the background of their difficult lives. This is a musical movie, so you can read the feelings and thoughts of them through the songs in the film, and you can think about the theme while having fun.

The movie is based on the stage play "Prom" and is a Netflix original. It's a recent movie, it hasn't gotten a lot of recognition yet, but so far it's been favorably received by critics. It won the Golden Globe Award for Best Picture (Comedy/Musical) in 2021.

Although most of the opinions are positive, the LGBTQ theme has been a hot topic in recent years, and some Rotten Tomato's reviewers have stated that "the film is full of gorgeous and cheerful atmosphere overall, but some audiences may raise their eyebrows." It is not a serious movie, and some people may not like it. However, I thought the comical depiction made it easy for many people to accept and understand.

Joe, who played Emma, had a clear singing voice and excellent acting skills, even though this was her film debut. She played a simple country girl, but she did not lack the glamour of a musical movie. In addition to that, there are many veteran actors such as Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman in the cast, and the production is even more powerful because the lighting and sets are designed according to each song.

I would like to recommend this movie to anyone who needs courage and wants to know what "being myself" is. The songs are also great, so please listen to this musical.
